Our Story

Chief Mechanic is a UK-based, independently owned software company dedicated to delivering cutting-edge web solutions and software for the automotive industry.

Our founder, Neil Skirrow - a software developer and SaaS entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience and a passion for everything automotive — recognised the need for a modern, unified dealership management platform. Existing solutions were either outdated, overly specialised, or poorly integrated, making it difficult for dealerships to efficiently manage their operations.

With a vision to create a seamless, all-in-one platform, Neil developed MotorDesk and officially launched in June 2021. MotorDesk enables automotive dealerships to manage their stock, website, communications, live chat, customer relationships, sales and invoicing, social media, and more — all within a single, intuitive system with transparent and reasonable pricing.

In 2022, Chief Mechanic moved into its offices in the Suffolk countryside, providing the perfect base for continued innovation and development. This dedicated space allows us to focus on refining our existing solutions while expanding our offerings to better serve the automotive industry.

Looking ahead, Chief Mechanic Limited continues to innovate, developing new automotive solutions — many built upon the MotorDesk ecosystem — to further support dealerships and the wider automotive industry.
